Whether you’re planning a single room addition or want to modernize your entire home, Dave’s Remodeling can help. Our professional team is knowledgeable about all aspects of the construction process, from demolition to design, and everything in between.
Remodeling vs. Renovation
While these terms are often used interchangeably, they’re not the same.
There are other types of changes:
An update involves changing the look of a room—by replacing a toilet and vanity in a bathroom, for example, while keeping the layout of the room intact. There is usually no structural work with an update.
Reconstruction involves restoring the features of a room that have sustained damage (e.g., from water) to match the look of the existing fixtures and materials. For example, replacing damaged sections of flooring in a bathroom. There is usually no structural work with a reconstruction.
- Remodeling involves changing the layout of a room while maintaining its intended purpose (e.g., keeping a bathroom as a bathroom). A kitchen remodel, for example, might involve adding an island with a sink and replacing cabinetry, countertops, flooring, moldings, lighting, fixtures, and appliances. It might also involve some structural changes, such as adding or removing a wall, or raising the ceiling height. A remodel is often done to improve not only the look of the space, but also its functionality—to make cooking easier, for example.
- Renovating involves changing the intended use or purpose of a room, for example, changing a bedroom into a bathroom. Renovations typically have the most structural work, since they involve completely transforming a room.

Our Process
- Initial Meeting: The first step is a comprehensive in-person consultation. We’ll discuss your vision for the project, answer your questions, and offer suggestions for improving the space as cost-effectively as possible.
- Project Review: If you decide to entrust us with your remodeling project, we’ll discuss in more detail the materials and labor required for the project, review the design plans, provide you with an itemized bid, and map out a project timeline.
- Pre-Construction Meeting: If possible, we’ll arrange a pre-construction meeting at your home with all parties involved—the job-site supervisor, designer (if applicable), and any key subcontractors—to discuss how the project will unfold.
- Begin Work: Once we’ve gathered the materials for the job and have the necessary permits, we’ll begin the work. Our crew will strive to minimize disruptions to your life during the remodeling process; we clean up after ourselves and do everything possible to limit dust and debris in your home. If your kitchen is being remodeled, we’ll help set up a mini-kitchen in another part of the house so you can continue to prepare food.
- Project Completion and Cleanup: Once we’ve finished the work, we’ll perform a comprehensive walk-through to ensure your complete satisfaction, and we’ll finish cleaning up the work sites thoroughly so you can enjoy your new space.
